A new Ontario rental registry called Vivre en Ville has been launched to help preserve affordability in the residential market. The free registry crowdsources self-reported rental prices across Toronto and has already amassed thousands of listed rents in virtually every neighbourhood in the city. The data provides information regarding a unit's rent, monthly electricity charges, permission to have a pet, and other specific characteristics. The registry is designed to address the underlying problems of the housing crisis and provide the data needed to understand what is going on with rental prices in Toronto.
